Great little place! Went for Sunday breakfast, based upon the reviews here. We were not disappointed. Friendly folks, awesome authentic food. Don't judge this place by the outside.

This is the best Mexican in the Shire. It's the only place I've found that serves huaraches which are amazing. Never crowded and quite.

Best authentic Mexican! Amazing homemade guacamole. Their carne asada tacos are delicious as are the lengua tacos :-) Small restaurant and the owners are nice. Closed on Mondays.

Might have the best authentic mole in the Quad-Cities. The chicken breast was big, juicy and tender. Cooked perfectly. Good beans as well. The place is clean, staff is friendly. Price is right. The run-of-the-mill, Americanized Mexican food (tacos, tostadas, etc.,) weren't anything to write home about, but the house specials are the real deal. Will be going back.

I loved the authentic Mexican tacos with meat of your choice, cilantro and chopped onions. They have Coca-Cola in a bottle. I would love to be back here.

Small, authentic Mexican restaurant that serves pozole only on Saturday and Sunday. Menudo is served on those days as well. They are open for breakfast and have decent salsa, but different than what Azteca and Haberno's make. Breakfast is good, too! I wish I understood the menu better, as they offer huarache's and other foods I'm unfamiliar with. They sell pozole and menudo to go in a larger container for $10.00.

Took my wife here, we had Steak Hueraches and some queso and chips. The food was amazing. Plenty of it too, neither of us ate more than half our food. Had to finish the queso though yum. All authentic Mexican food. The staff was real friendly and attentive. We will be back for sure.

Small, family owned restaurant with authentic Mexican food. Great breakfast selection, a good selection an vegetarian meals and plenty of meat dishes to choose from. We went here for lunch and the crowd was very mixed. The food was very good and I think this is the best Mexican food I had in the Quad City area so far. Will come back here. Only downside is maybe the location and how small the place is. Also, don't expect fine dining. This is a down to earth, no fuzz restaurant.

Staff was friendly and prompt. I like spicy food and got the "Angry Burrito". You have to like spicy food to finish it. I was just driving through but if I lived in the area I would make it a regular stop.

First observation: This place is family-run. Generally speaking, I love that about a place... when it's family-run it's usually much more attention to detail. That said, it lost points for me when the daughter (who I'm guessing at about age 14?) spilled a good portion of my menudo on the table as she served it to me. Barely missed scalding my lap... she apologized, handing me a wad of paper napkins, and she left me to clean up the mess. Oof. Next observation: It's really small for seating. Not a bad thing necessarily, until you end up sitting really close to a bunch of F-Bomb-dropping locals who don't seem to appreciate that you are sitting right next to them with young children. Boo. Hiss. I was excited to try this place because I love menudo and I saw that they serve it. That said, it was the menudo that brought my rating down here. I love adding the extras into the menudo, and I was surprised that the "extras" given to me were just chopped onions and a few wedges of lime. The tripe was more fat than substance. The flavor was average, and almost flat without the addition of anything aside from onion bits. A little cilantro would've gone a long way. Now I have to say, had I had something other than menudo, I think I'd likely have rated this place with another star. My daughter had a chimichanga. It was crispy and flaky, and nicely presented. My son had quesadillas. They were not like any quesadillas I'd ever seen, but I'd say they were crispy and flaky as well, and well-presented. I was sad that I had not ordered something other than the menudo, which says something, since it was the whole reason I was looking forward to trying the place out. Aside from that, the chips were horrible. The salsa was great. We may return in the future, but I'm going to opt for something different if we do. The breakfasts sounded good. They have chorizo and eggs...

Small authentic-style restaurant in downtown East Moline. They serve free chips and salsa to every table. Their salsa is sooo good! We got the special of the day; Chicken Flautas. They were really tasty but kind of on the small side. Service was very fast and friendly, will be visiting again!

Very friendly! Great burritos. I usually do carry out, but the time I did eat in they had really good chips and salsa. There are some more authentic items on the menu, but I usually stick to the same things.

I'm from California and I'm constantly on a quest to find authentic Mexican food in the Quad Cities. This place is as authentic as it gets. Their food is excellent, and the service is great. I love the asada tacos.

I've just recently tried this place and it's great. A little more authentic than some other places I've been.

This place is pretty excellent by and large and of all things I would find the low point to be the chips and salsa. The Quesadillas are the best I have ever had, and I look forward to returning for them. The other items are tasty and quality as well, though nothing else stood out as much.

This was a great little family-owned spot. The young woman that waited on me was very friendly. They were quick to get me my to-go order and they all seemed very happy to be there. This alone makes it a top spot for me. The food was wonderful! They offer similar items you will find at Azteca's but they also offer more authentic items such huaraches. I love the flavor and the fact they don't drown the food in cheese. I think the the amount of food you get is great for the price. I can't wait to return and try other items I have never seen on other Mexican restaurants I have tried.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
